HOUSING
VEO's evidence-based Housing First model provides veterans with immediate, safe emergency housing to ensure stabilization, basic human needs are met, and wrap-around services can be implemented. At VEO, there are no barriers to getting a room or apartment, regardless of drug use, criminal history, or other typical barriers. If
they are homeless or at risk of being homeless, veterans can find emergency beds at VEO. Once stable, veterans are assisted in securing long-term permanent housing.

UNSHELTERED TO HOUSED
VEO Unsheltered to Housed Program provides a safe, transitional living environment with on-site case management services to support veterans to stabilize, gain employment, and ultimately move into permanent housing. The Program has a capacity of 20 beds with an additional 20 beds being added by November 2023. VEO interviews homeless veterans, identified through the continuum of care system, from VA referrals, or self-referred, to select candidates for the U2H Program. All veterans qualify, but the program is for those who are ready to make a commitment to work with a case manager, gain or maintain employment or volunteer service, and improve their financial literacy – with the final, ultimate goal to move into and thrive in permanent housing. VEO’s program takes between 60 and 180 days, and for those who require more extensive clinical care or who otherwise are not ready for permanent housing, VEO facilitates the move to a specialized care center (such as a rehabilitation hospital) with the open offer to return when ready. The Unsheltered to Housed Program’s vision is that no veteran will be unsheltered ever again.

PERMANENT HOUSING
Veterans are able to take advantage of permanent housing on our campus. VEO is moving towards expanding our affordable housing model to the city and the counties we serve. Our goal is to allow veterans to become economically self-sufficient through our approach. This allows our veterans to pursue living in communities in and around Atlanta. Veterans’ support and amenities may include rental assistance, sobriety support, individual and group counseling, peer support, and job assistance.

ROLLINS VETERANS CENTER
With gratitude to our partners, we completed the construction of Rollins Hall in 2021, the first-ever new building on our campus.

VEO uses the Housing First Model to ensure a holistic approach that is veteran centered. While staying in emergency housing, veterans are provided a bridge to transformation. Our heroes are assessed and connected to services for behavior and mental health, legal fees, benefits, job readiness, and so much more.
