Leadership
"We envision a secure place where our homeless veterans can be fed, clothed, and housed from the elements. We are humbled by the many generous friends who have offered their time and energy, as well as introduced us to their own friends, in order to sustain and enlarge the VEO Family."

--Frantz K. Fortune, Executive Director

About Our Executive Director

Frantz K. Fortune has worked tirelessly for nearly two decades to generate a synergy between both the civilian and social service sectors in order to eradicate homelessness among our veterans.

In 2008, he founded and currently serves as the Executive Director of Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO), a “Housing-First” and wrap-around supportive service provider for homeless veterans.

Mr. Fortune’s career includes various positions in Mental Health, Low-income Housing Management, and Substance Abuse/Behavioral Counseling. He began working professionally with the homeless population as a Resident Assistant, Employment Coordinator, Life Skills Instructor, Case Manager, Program Manager, and eventually as a Program Director prior to founding VEO in 2008.

Mr. Fortune humbly displays a genuine sense of pride in making a vast difference in the lives of veterans. His hard work and extraordinary efforts have been recognized by numerous leaders on the local and state levels and he is incredibly grateful for the community’s collective support as he continues to build a national model to help end veteran homelessness in America.

"We Americans must never forget those who gave up their lives for our freedom. Thousands of soldiers lost their lives serving the United States, and many of the ones who survived are repaid with homelessness and neglect. "
History Of Service

With the help of compassionate family and innovative collaborations of selfless communities and corporate supporters, Frantz Fortune set out to craft a nonprofit organization that has helped thousands of veterans reintegrate back into lives of empowerment.

In July of 2008 the vision and dream to advocate for veterans came to fruition. Since its inception, Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO) has grown into a safe-haven for veterans as a result of substantial community involvement and unwavering strategic partnerships with organizations who continue to engage and empower our military veterans.

There is a great need among our homeless veterans. And we at VEO recognize those needs and we fervently stand in the gap as chosen participants that are eager to deliver the essential services that will lead our veterans to health and wellness, stability, self-sufficiency and to become productive leaders within their families and communities.

VEO has strategically designed an organization with the veteran in mind. We believe in innovation and creativity, and our forward moving strategy which includes social enterprise and expanded collective impact initiatives are endeavors that will help to expand our services and reach.
